Basho poem

A woven bodied musozutsu, applied with overlapping panels (Kinji, Ginji, Hirame and Sumi-e togidashi) which both visually and calligraphically describe a famous waka by the poet Matsuo Basho (1644 - 1694).

春もやや
気色ととのふ
月と梅

Barely Spring,
a colourful complexion of
the moon and a plum blossom

I have been unable to find a recorded makie-shi of this name. However, the style and his cultured approach to his art suggests a craftsman of fine merit.
