Carved from the coronet of an antler, this strong, sculptural deer form has real presence. It is finished with an intriguing stain that reveals subtle greens and browns as the piece is turned and the light catches its contours.
By Masamitsu. This netsuke, previously used in articles concerning the artist Kaigyokusai, where it was deemed suspect. In reality the suspect aspect was simply the signature was being read incorrectly as Masatsugu, thus being included in these articles and debates where the work had no relevance.
