Fukurokuju

A wood figure of Fukurokuju, lifting his robe to assist the movement of his feet, quickening his escape. Escape from what? The reverse, one sees that he has been pelted with a ball, likely from nuisance Karako (male child).

Attributed to the circle of Ogasawara Issai, which includes, but is not limited to; Nagao Taichiro, Masanao (otherwise referred to as Masanao of Kyoto) and Natsuki (sai) Hidemitsu. The first two artists were recorded in the Soken Kisho 1781, Inaba Tsuryu.
