(SOLD) A good-size wood group of monkey & young by Mitsuhide. Eyes inlaid in dark horn and the teeth of the adult monkey inlaid in bone. The age and use indicators of the piece lead me to conclude this is a 1st-generation example.
Placed by Frederick Meinertzhagen in the "Kyoto school" nearly a century ago. This artist, in my opinion bears more of a stylistic relationship with Natsuki (sai) Hidemitsu and also Hidemasa.
