Shojo attb: Hoshin

(SOLD) A wood model of a Shojo. The creature is cuddling a near full Sake jar, some of its contents spilling over the jar's edges. I think too much has been consumed already. The effects of the alcohol already on display, the creature covers its face with its hand, perhaps already regretting their behaviour.

Attributed to Hoshin, who was connected to Kyoto by information offered in the Soken Kisho, 1781. However, the depth of that connection to Kyoto is unsubstantiated. In my opinion, the artist's early repetoire is consistent with Kanjuro (Osaka connected in the Soken Kisho). Hoshin, prior to adopting this name has an illustrious anonymous stage of his career. This example is one of those previously unidentified examples from approximately 1760 or thereabouts.

4.3cm Wide.
