(Reserved) A wood netsuke of a nest, with two wasps. The structure of the nest is very realistic, with hexagonal cells, some filled with grubs the others empty, one of which is utilised to form a natural himotoshi.
Signed Tametaka 為隆. Mentioned in the Soken Kisho as active prior to 1781. Aligned to Nagoya. I have been informed by a Japanese enthusiast that Tametaka died in 1794.
4.4cm Wide.
The work has been treated with various coloured lacquer techniques, whether this is original or added after the fact by another artisan, the treatment is very effective.
